ZWar1: The Great War of the Dead is a game that combines first-person shooting and strategy in an alternative dieselpunk-aesthetic world in which World War I has never ended. The zombies, brought back to life after the 1918 influenza pandemic, have become a new and immortal enemy.

The game system in ZWar1: The Great War of the Dead is split up into several stages that are very distinct. On the one hand you've got to manage your soldiers: every man has his name and surname, experience points, main and secondary weapons, and helmet. Each soldier is unique and you have to take care of him.

Managing your soldiers is just the first step, though. Before the battle you've got to pick your ground positions. You can also set up barbed wire, landmines, firethrowers, and much more to slow down the onslaught of your enemies. All's fair in war.

Once you've outlined your strategy you'll go straight to the action. From a first-person perspective you can control a mounted machine gun, with which you have to try to mow down as many zombies as you can manage. Plus you can give orders to your soldiers, affix bayonets, and throw grenades.

ZWar1: The Great War of the Dead is an excellent action and strategy game with original gameplay, good graphics, and one of the best menu systems to be found on Android. An outstanding title in all respects.
